Nothing Comes to Sleepers...
Lately Life has been kind of crazy. My husband and I work crazy shifts he works usually 4am and I either work at 6am or 10am..My shift is always changing which is very very annoying *That's why I want to be my own boss** LoL!.Yes my Life goal Run my own business!.
I have lot's of plans especially with running our own little spot or should I say Cafe. I just have not been doing my homework like I said I would. It seems like my dream is a possible dream I just need to do my homework. Like what would make our restaurant different then others. Oh and of course the biggest issue I hear from everyone "LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION"..So much on my plate..
Especially cause we are just busy living life and the biggest thing "trying to pay our bills"...I really need to get things moving or it's never going to happen. I know my time will come but I know I can't just sit around wish for things to happen. So I'm giving myself a deadline. So by the end of October I will seriously be looking into everything we need from business loans, Location, Menu, Pricing equipment out and etc, etc, etc.
I was really starting to just push this dream aside but I emailed the Chef that taught me everything I know in the Kitchen "Chef Diane" *Seriously Chef Ramsey has nothing on her..She is one of the strictest Chefs I ever worked under very professional but at the same time has the loudest voice ever and can make any man cry. Her opinion really matters to me especially cause I look up to her in so many ways she seriously has helped a lot in molding me into the person I am today. She helped me believe in myself especially when I really didn't think I was capable of doing anything. Also helped me get into a Culinary Arts Apprenticeship Program which payed me to go to school, always helped me get jobs in Hawaii working under some of the best Chef's on the Island.I can go on and on about her but I sent her a email with my dreams of opening a place out here and honestly I thought she was going to tell me that many restaurants are suffering due to the bad economy but it was the complete opposite..She had faith that we could do it.
She told me I needed to do it cause if I didn't how would I ever know if it would have been a success. She even told me that if I was to run my own business I would need to stop with the "ISLAND WAY" by giving things away for free just cause they are family, friends ect, ect, ect *she knows me so well. That would be my only problem I think too!..lol..
Anyways with her encouragement and the encouragement of our families and friends. I am still going forward with this adventure. Just needed to get a push from a professional I guess...I can't stop thinking about this whole idea it's still in the back of my head all day everyday...Just seriously need to get my husband on board cause once he's in 100% I know things will get done faster.
I went thru a Culinary Arts Program at *Windward Community College* got my certificates. Went to School at Kapiolani Community College for a 1year in the Apprenticeship Program. Worked as a Su Chef under Chef Diane for 4 Years. Now working at Shriner's Hospital as a Cook.
But my husband...taught himself how to cook..Has been cooking since he was a little kid...Would Rather be cooking trying out new recipes then doing anything else unless it's cleaning LoL..j/k... Eats something for the first time and then goes home and tries to figure out everything that was in that thing and makes it himself and tries to perfect that thing until it taste the same or better. My husband cooks with a passion.
I say all the time I may have learned a lot in Culinary Arts School but my husband cooks way better then me hands down...I know it's his dream to open his own spot too. I think he just needs that little push..that's why I'm here..so once he's on 100% I know everything will go accordingly....I'm getting excited...hope Utah is ready for us...Cause we are ready!!...
